Title I Information

Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), seeks to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged. Title I, Part A provides financial assistance through state educational agencies (SEAs) to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families to ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards.

‚ÄčThe district must use Title I funds only in schools that have been selected for services through allowable procedures. Funds are used to improve student achievement in high poverty schools.  The Title I, Part A Handbook contains comprehensive information about all Title I requirements for districts and schools.

ESSA112(e)(1)(A) At the beginning of each school year, LEA's shall notify the parents of each student attending a Title I school that the parents may request, and the LEA will provide the parents on request, information regarding the professional qualifications of the student's classroom teachers.

ESSA Section 1112(e)(2)(A) At the beginning of each school year, LEAs that receive Title I funds shall notify the parents of each student attending any school receiving Title I, Part A funds that parents may request, and the LEA will provide on request (and in a timely manner), information regarding any State or LEA policy regarding student participation in any assessments mandated by ESSA Section 1111(b)(2) and by the State or LEA.
